The 1890 Ordnance Survey Map of the Fishpool Area of Bury, shows Bury Football Club's Gigg Lane home as yet very much undeveloped with just a small covered stand on the South Side of the ground. ? The site had become Bury's home upon their formation on 24 April 1885, when ? they became tenants of one of Lord Derby's fields.
